I’m Still on the Journey…

While my caretaking journey for my mom may be done, I continue on the journey of caring for my husband.

Caretaking is one of the most sacred callings and often hides in the quiet corners of life where love meets service. It is not just about meeting someone’s physical needs; it's about reflecting the heart of Christ in every act of kindness, every gentle touch, and every moment of patience. While it can be challenging, there is a deep beauty in the role of a caretaker, because it is love in motion.

Once again this week, someone reminded me of the importance of the ministry of presence. Caretaking allows you to be fully present with someone who needs to feel seen and valued. Even when words fail, your presence becomes a source of comfort and reassurance.

As a caretaker, you are reflecting Christ’s love to the one you are caring for AND to those who are watching.
Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers
and sisters of mine, you did for me”
                                                                (Matthew 25:40).

Remember that each act of care reflects His selfless love and compassion.

Did you know you are building strength and character in your own life as you care? Caretaking requires patience, endurance, and humility. Over time, these qualities strengthen your spirit and draw you closer to God. Through caregiving, you learn to lean on His strength rather than your own.

You are creating an eternal impact when you care. Though your efforts may feel unnoticed, every moment of care leaves a lasting imprint on someone’s life. Your love and sacrifice may become the memory they carry of God’s faithfulness.

There is a special superpower in every small act of caretaking. A warm smile, a gentle hug, or a whispered prayer can speak louder than grand gestures. Caretaking teaches that beauty lies in the simple, consistent acts of kindness that build trust and hope.

You discover the beauty of caretaking in the still, quiet moments…when you feel the weight of love, when you witness a spark of joy, or when God whispers peace over your heart.

You are doing holy work. Even on days that feel exhausting or unseen, your role carries eternal value. A caretaker cultivates a garden in their heart, daily sowing love, patience, and faithfulness. Over time, those seeds bloom into something beautiful, both in the life of the one you care for and in your own heart.
